So while creating a custom level, I made that a song that was shorter than the original and replaced it using Riivolution. Original song being "Purple Coins" from SMG2, end loop point being 1:28 (or at 3,881,500 Samples) starting loop point at 0:08 (or at 353,520 samples). It seemed to screw up the timing of the beat blocks I placed in my level.

The beat blocks beep around twice as fast as they should until about 1:05 in, where the beat blocks keep beeping but don't swap for a good chunk of time. From there, the beat blocks seem to have a will of their own, choosing when to beep, and sometimes even for how long. I don't know if it has to do with the loop points or the length of the original song, but the beat blocks refuse to cooperate. What's really bizarre is that it works perfectly fine with the original.

I can send the .AST song and Galaxy if need be, but I would rather keep my level unknown if possible, since it's a surprise for someone who uses this thread. If anyone knows what causes this bug I would appreciate the help. Thank you!

The rhythm for beat blocks is handled by different files. This can't be edited, tho.

Do you have an idea as to what file is being used? If so, maybe I can experiment with it

My temporary solution for this problem is keeping the endpoints exactly the same as the original song. I tested it out, and that seems to work alright, never really de-syncing, but I'm not certain this is the best solution. You'd need to find a song that could have the same loop points without sounding strange. In my case, it wasn't, so I discarded it. Planning on replacing a different song.

I hate to ask a second question directly afterwords, but what's the AST file for the original Beat Block Galaxy? I know it's also used in Flash Black. It's a remix of the underground theme, like so.

I was reading this thread, so I'm thinking it might POSSIBLY be in an AW file, since I couldn't find it listed under SMG2 AST File Names. I went through my backup SMG2's Stream library, and listened to all the songs listed, but I couldn't find it there either. Did I just miss it, or is something else going on?

I'm not very good at SMG hacking (really new), but I have a few ideas. It probably doesn't have to do with the song itself, although it's weird that the endpoints being changed in them change the beat blocks pattern. My guess would be that it has something to do with the Beat Controller (SoundSyncSwitch) object, since there's little to nothing known about it and no known associated files. I would guess that file would be found in the AudioRes folder, but this is all guesswork. Good luck!

The Beat Block music and several other tunes are sequenced music (similar to MIDI). We can't edit those.
