Hmm, okay. Dunno why this happens. You can try replacing any other unused track and test it. If it still doesn't work, the problem is caused by something else.

Alright, I will try.

EDIT: I tested with another unused boss music file, and it didn't work as well.

Maybe the BgmIdNames of the unused boss themes don't work?

Also, I wrote this already, but this stupid place didn't save it.

I really can't figure out what you're doing wrong since the unused boss themes always worked for me.

No it didn't save. I rewrote it.

Strange... The files themselves contain the songs I want, ripped from SMG1. Could it be I'm still typing the wrong BgmIdNames?

I guess so. As I said before, take a look at BgmParam.bcsv. It's a list of all the game's songs.

I found the problem. You have to change MBGM_SMG2_BOSS_01B to STM_SMG2_BOSS_01B!
I'll post a tutorial about music changing later. I'm currently documenting some stuff.

Hmm, nice! I will take a look sometime!

Also, with the solution to using the unused boss music (changing MBGM to STM), could that also help for the unused world map themes? Maybe they work if you use STM as well.

You would have to replace the AST file of another song with one of the unused world map themes.

Well, I managed to make all the songs I wanted play in the levels I wanted.
There is one exception: SMG2_boss08b_strm.ast
I want to make it play in Battle Belt Galaxy (as Melty Molten Galaxy from SMG1), but the song won't play in the level.

Could this file be an exception to the rule of the unused boss themes (giving them the name STM_SMG2_BOSS_0?B)?

It's not an issue with the Battle Belt Galaxy.

EDIT:
BTW, how do you change what boss music plays in a boss battle?

Just look at the list that can be found on the wiki.

Some of the bosses have a special ActorInfo file which controls the music that plays during the battle. I think it was ActionBgmCtrl.bcsv

What .arc file do you need to open ActionBgmCtrl?

You need to open the ARC file of the boss inside ObjectData.
