How do you add new music to Mario Galaxy (2) and make it play in certain galaxies?

For example, I want to make Cloudy Court Galaxy Mission 1 play its original music, and give Mission 2 the Gusty Garden music from Galaxy 1.

Another good example that's actually in the game already is Space Storm Galaxy. The first and third missions of that Galaxy use the official Space Storm Galaxy music, but the second mission uses the Buoy Base Galaxy music from Mario Galaxy 1.

http://kuribo64.net/board/thread.php?id=2045
I found this, which led me to this:
http://s280.photobucket.com/user/dertienvijfenvijftig/media/White%20Hole_zpsbroj302k.png.html
Am I on the right path?

Also, after making the changes to the files, how to make all these files one iso again?
EVERY tutorial about Whitehole doesn't even mention this.

EDIT2: I have found out you can play the extracted iso with Dolphin, but it seems you need some main.dol file or something?

Right now we can't import new music into the game. AFAIK this requires some edits to the SZS file in the AudioRes folder which we can't edit. All we can do is replacing existing songs or change the songs that play in a galaxy. For this you'll have to edit StageBgmInfo, you were correct about this. You can find some information on the wiki.
The main.dol file can be extracted with WiiScrubber. I'll do a little tutorial on how to use Dolphin with extracted files in a few days.

Thanks!
Shame there isn't any way to add SMG1 songs to SMG2, I wanted to give every galaxy unique music. But oh well.

Nice, I'm looking forward to the tutorial!

Well, you can replace existing tracks. There is some unused music in the game that can be simply replaced, mostly faster versions of boss themes and the infamous galaxy_08 theme.

Yeah, I found those, along with the two unused world map themes, allowing for at least seven pieces of custom music (still looking for the unused Ice/Flying Mario music files). I can replace these with SMG1 tracks and make these play in galaxies that share music with another.
For example, I want to play the Honeyhive Galaxy theme from SMG1 in Honeybloom Galaxy from SMG2, so Honeybloom and Honeyhop Galaxies don't share the same theme anymore.

Do you know of any list containing galaxies that share music with one another?

First of all, the unused world map themes don't have slots, so replacing them wouldn't work. Music for power-ups, some galaxy tunes and a few fanfares are sequenced. We can't replace those either. All we can do right now is replacing existing AST files in the Stream folder.
I think there is a list on the wiki.

If this is the wiki, then there is no such list.

I've created a list myself, containing the galaxies that share music and the music files I can either replace with SMG1 music, or is SMG1 music already and can be used for the galaxies that share music with one another.

Are there any more unused music files?

They have AST files, but they don't have slots, meaning that you can't use them. Those slots are defined in the SZS file I've mentioned earlier. We don't know how to edit that one yet.

Where do I get a key.bin?

IIRC there's a keygen included in the official download package.

Thanks, I found it.

Almost there...
Now, what the hell...
http://s280.photobucket.com/user/dertienvijfenvijftig/media/WHAT_zpskvdiylfk.png.html

One file at a time?! That's ridiculous!!

Phew, finally documentated everything.

EDIT 2: Ah, I extracted the wrong main.dol, from Partition:0. I had to extract the one from Partition:1. Now it loads correctly.

Use Dolphin to extract the files. You should use WiiScrubber to dump the main.dol file only.

So if I want, for example, to let the unused SMG2_boss01b_strm.ast play in Spin-Dig Galaxy, I should change the MBGM_SMG2_GALAXY_09 to MBGM_SMG2_BOSS_01B or something?
Since the music file for Spin-Dig is SMG2_galaxy09_strm.ast, and the music file for the unused theme is SMG2_boss01b_strm.ast.

I don't understand why the filenames are different from the BgmIdNames...

I have successfully managed to make different songs play in Galaxies with Whitehole, but only the songs that have Galaxy BgmIdNames (as you can see how they're called in the other Galaxy BgmIdNames). I don't know what the (unused) boss music BgmIdNames are, so I am unable to make them play in the game.

But we're almost done! The songs that I have managed to replace/play in certain Galaxies work great!

If you want to make the game play a different song in a certain galaxy, you will have to edit ScenarioBgmInfo. StageBgmInfo contains the music changes that are caused by things like warp pipes or BgmChangeArea. In your case you'll have to open the file ScenarioBgmInfo.bcsv using Whitehole's BCSV editor and change DigMineGalaxy's BgmIdName to MBGM_SMG2_BOSS_01B.
There's a complete list of all the game's song IDs in BgmParam.bcsv. You can use this as a reference, if you don't know the IDs.

Uh what?
I have ScenarioBgmInfo open already, just like you say in your post on Kuribo64:
http://kuribo64.net/board/thread.php?id=2045

You can have two files open at the same time or something. On the left side I have this:
/AudioRes/Info/StageBgmInfo.arc
And on the right side this:
/StageBgmInfo/ScenarioBgmInfo.bcsv
That's the ScenarioBgmInfo.

You can see it in the earlier screenshots I posted.
And the changes work perfectly, so I don't see any problem.

Still, the boss song doesn't work.

Yeah, I just wanted to point out the difference between StageBgmInfo and ScenarioBgmInfo.

Why doesn't it work? What's happening? What did you change?

No music plays in Spin-Dig. I replaced the unused boss music file with Megaleg's song, ripped straight from SMG1.

Sound effects still play. It's really just the music.
Also, it's just that song that won't work. When I go to the Toad saucer just before the boss, the Toad music starts playing just like normally.

EDIT: I tried another unused boss song file, and it didn't work either.
Could it be the unused boss BgmIdNames just cannot load in the game?
