Here's a list of all object types in Super Mario 3D Land. A lot of them already existed in the SMG games.

  • ObjInfo: Generic objects. Nothing interesting.
  • StartInfo: Contains all the starting points in a level. Make sure to have at least one in your level with MarioNo set to 0.
  • GoalObjInfo: Pretty much self-explanatory. Stores the goal flag objects.
  • AreaObjInfo: Areas, such as SwitchOnArea or DeathArea, belong to this.
  • CameraAreaInfo: Contains all the camera areas of a level.
  • DemoSceneObjInfo: Only used in levels which start with "Demo". Contains information about cutscene objects.
  • StartEventObjInfo: These objects are checked before the player enters the level. Can be used to trigger an opening cutscene for a level.
  • AllRailInfos: Contains information about rails.



As a little bonus, these object types from SMG were removed in 3D Land:
  • GeneralPos
  • PlanetObj
  • StageObj
  • ChildObj*
  • SoundObj
  • ChangeObj
* A similar thing exists in Super Mario 3D Land, but the information about child objects are stored in the properties of the parent.

I wasn't surprise at this, nor was I surprised at how close the cameras resembled SMG. Except they're not as retarded in this game.

Nope, that's wrong. GeneralPos is an important object type.

Also, rails don't have those two control points anymore, meaning that you can't add circle paths.

No, it's useless. It was only used for like boss battles or something and Starship Mario. If it wasn't useless why would they take it out for SM3DL ?

Oh, yeah. I thought you were talking about the SMG games. It wouldn't make sense to have them in SM3DL. Having the gravity controllers in 3DL would have been nice, though.
