No, you use memory patches.

I've already included the memory patches in the main post.
Before you start with SMG hacking, I recommend you to learn more about Riivolution first:
http://rvlution.net/wiki/Patch_Format

EDIT: I've added a small patch for changing the galaxy that SceneChangeArea leads to.

oh, i see..
since Riivolution uses patches and with the spoilers I just have to make the xml file that tells riivolution to load the memory patches?
or do i just not get it at all?

Yes, that's what you do. Just insert the snippets from the spoilers.

with the red star one it comes with 2 folders and 2 xml files, for debugger one it just has the memory offset stuff..
so right now I'm look at the xml file for the red star, now if i want to load the debugger can I just change the folder name and memory stuff to match with the debuggers stuff?

You insert the memory patches to your XML file, not creating a new one.
Also, it seems like you still don't know how to use Riivolution.

I added the files from the "SB4E01"-folder to the games folder and added the text from SB4E01.xml to my xml file. The SB4P01 things are only for US, right?
The red star is just a blue cube while the ice flower can be seen with Whitehole, but both items doesn't appear at all.

This is the xml code, i'm using. (It was originally from that SMG2.5 demo and i also added the code for the crash menu):

Hmm, I can't see something wrong here. Did you use the correct patches for your game?

I used the SB4E01 things, because i thought it stands for Europe. Or are the SB4P01 the right things?

SB4E is the American version, SB4P is the European version.

When the game crashes, it prints some useful information about how the game crashed and why. Useful for testing edits.

I've looked and haven't found an explanation of how you would go about reading that information. I've seen many people post screenshots of their errors and then getting told what it is, but wouldn't it be easier to tell people how to read them?

Maybe I'm blind or dumb, but either way, I am lost

EDIT: Turns out I am blind. Found this: http://kuribo64.net/board/thread.php?id=1558

The crash debugger shows us a lot of addresses that give an idea of where the game crashed. You need a full disassembly of the game's dol file in order to work with these.

I have put in the link to the golden shell patch here. Also, I've updated that one and the patch for the power-ups so that they are compatible with every version of the game.

Just added a new patch that reincludes the red power star from SMG1. This is done by checking Obj_arg6 of a power star and loading the red texture whether the value is 1 or not. Downloads and more information can be found above.
