What are scenario files?

This is an easy question. Basically, a scenario file the core of a galaxy; the Map file contains information about the objects and cameras, only. A Scenario file, however, contains information about the missions and sceneries, available zones and the world the galaxy is found in. Dossun2 has a tool for editing SMG2's scenario files.

Editing scenario files

...coming soon...

Creating new galaxies

Creating new galaxies is very easy since the release of Dossun2. First of all, let's start with the requirements:
- Dossun2: Used to build and edit the scenario file.
- MSBConv: To add text for the galaxy.
- RARC tools: To extract and pack the MSBT files.
- Whitehole: For editing the galaxy itself. The built-in BCSV editor is used to open the sound information files.
- WorldMapEditor: For world map editing, obviously...
- The zone template: http://neomariogalaxy.bplaced.net/data/uploads/TemplateZoneMap.arc

Launch Dossun2, select your SMG2 workspace and hit the "Create Galaxy" button. Enter the filename of your galaxy and press the okay button. This will create a new directory inside the StageData folder that contains the scenario file for the newly created galaxy.
Copy the zone template ARC file into the galaxy's directory and name it <yourgalaxy>Map.arc. Now you can start working on your new galaxy.
There's still some other stuff that you need to set up to make it work ingame. We'll start with the background music.
Open Whitehole's BCSV Editor to open and edit StageBgmInfo and ScenarioBgmInfo. Add entries for your galaxy in each file. When you're finished doing your edits, save your files and close the BCSV editor and Whitehole.
We still need to add text for our galaxy, otherwise the galaxy will definitely crash. There will be a separate tutorial on how to edit MSBT files very soon!

Do I really have to use a preexisting map file from your template? I wanted to use one i'm already done working on, and I even PM'd you if that's possible, but you just redirected me here.

I'm not 100% sure, but if my understanding is correct, you can use your own map file, it's just a far greater hassle to do so or something like that.

No, you don't have to. Also, I said you should take a look at the parts which tell you about how to change galaxy slots.

When you say the game can only handle three custom galaxies, does that include galaxies with your template that replace already existing galaxies? Like how in Neo's demo your template replaces IslandFleetGalaxy, and doesn't use a new slot.

That does not count. "Custom" galaxies refers to new slots.

Again, I don't want to make a new galaxy. I just want to port a Flip Swap map file to Twisty Trials, does it really involve all this complicated stuff?

Yes it does. If you want to add a new galaxy you actually do the same as porting a galaxy from one slot to another, the only difference is that you actually use a new slot for creating new galaxies.

What parts of the tutorial can i skip? Like for example clearly i wont need to add text to a galaxy that already has text. I just want to move a dang map file but this is confusing as hell.

OH, darn it. Sorry, I forgot that you want to port the map file only, sorry...
For this, you just rename it.

Wait? Really? So it will work if I just rename RedBlueExGalaxyMap.arc to SecretAthleticGalaxyMap.arc?

Problem is, Twisty Trials has one zone of its own called RotateWoodChallengeZone, would I rename my map file to that or to SecretAthleticGalaxyMap.arc

Then you have to port the complete galaxy...
Just follow all the above steps, except for text, because you said you already changed this.

Well, I didn't change it. I assumed Twisty Trials already has text files.

Alright. I followed the tutorial exactly and also used Dossun2 to create the Scenario file with the hash name of the galaxy. But when i select a star, the game crashes. I looked at everything, i checked, if there are objects on the layers, that are set in the Scenario file. I checked for the UseRecource.
What can be wrong? Does your template galaxy need a Fly In Controller or other things, or should the template work also so? Or do i also have to add the Galaxy to SystemDataTable or something?

Did you already work on your galaxy? Because it doesn't have to be the scenario file that is causing the crash; it might be something else. In fact, I see no problems with galaxies created with my tool.

I just added a huge strong block with 3 goombas, each one is on different Layer that i set in the scenario file. How exactly works the Star numbers at the Power Star settings in the Scenario file? I set them like Nintendo's stages (first scenario has all stars checked, second only the second, third the third and so on).
