The effect lasts a little bit longer though. Also, it doesn't play a sound.

PetitPorterExitPoint is one of the few interesting unused objects from SMG2. It can be used to define where warp pods teleport the player to after the time ran out.

These are some leftover entries in SMG1's resource tables. The first part is the object's name and the second refers to a file in ObjectData. All of these objects don't work anymore.
Also, there's a little typo in the entries for SkeletalFish: SkeletalFishGUardShadow.

EDIT: Here's a full list of all known removed objects from SMG1.

The following entries were found in ParticleData it's not known if these refer to objects or just models.

I don't know if anybody knows of this, but I found unused red coin sound effects in Super Mario Galaxy 2: SE_SY_RED_COIN, SE_SY_RED_COIN_APPEAR, and SE_SY_RED_COIN_COMPLETE. SE_SY_RED_COIN is based on the sound from Sunshine, the other ones are original AFAIK. I don't know if these are in Galaxy 1 as well, and I don't know of any other unused sound effects.

Fun fact: The sound for collecting a Comet Medal (SE_SY_TICO_COIN) is a sped up version of SE_SY_RED_COIN.

Here is how I got to play these sounds:
A. Mute the title screen music (I did this by going to the title screen BGM-related entries 279 and 280 in SoundIdToInstList.bcsv, blanking the info on the second column and changing the BankProgNo to 0, but I'm sure there's a more convenient way to do this)

B. change SE_SY_TITLE_BUTTON_A in ActionSound.bcsv to the sound effect of your choice (it's pretty far below but beyond that I can't really help you on where it is, alternatively you could also edit SE_SY_TITLE_BUTTON_B, or why not both)

C. Run the game and press A on the title screen

Interesting. These aren't from SMS, but definitely they are unused. Look at my list of removed objects from SMG1, just above your post. Red coins were meant to be added to SMG1, so these sounds may exist in SMG1 as well.

EDIT: SunLightArea is a semi-unused object from SMG2. Like TeresaRoomGlaringLight, it's placed in one of Haunty Hall's zones, but it doesn't appear, because switch 10 is never activated. SunLightArea is very similar to GlaringLightArea, another unused object from SMG2, which can be used to kill Boos. A similar object was used in SMG1 (GlaringLightCylinder).

Rightside-Down Galaxy has unused music information in StageBgmInfo. It has an unused second slot that would play the Flip-Swap Galaxy music if loaded.
